Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of data, only as needed to run the Services:

• Account & profile: name, email address, phone number, password (stored securely by Firebase Authentication), role (explorer, property/tiffin owner, delivery partner, team member) and profile details you add.
• Location: approximate and precise location (with your permission) to show nearby hostels, rooms, tiffins and stores, to set delivery/booking addresses, and—for delivery partners—to support live order delivery. You can turn location off in your device settings.
• Photos & media: images you upload (listings, products, profile, identity/KYC documents, move-in/move-out condition photos).
• Messages & content: chat messages between explorers and owners, reviews, ratings, listings and reports you submit.
• Transaction & payment data: bookings, orders, subscriptions and payment status. Online payments are processed by our payment gateway (Razorpay); we do not store your full card or bank credentials on our servers.
• Device & usage data: device model, app version, push-notification token, app interactions and diagnostics, and identifiers including the advertising ID, collected via Google/Firebase services.

2. How we use your information

• To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
• To show listings, process bookings, orders, subscriptions and payments.
• To enable chat, reviews and other interactions between users.
• To send transactional and service notifications.
• To keep the platform safe—reviewing reports, preventing fraud, spam and abuse.
• To analyse and improve the Services.
• To comply with legal obligations.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

• Service providers that power the app — Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, messaging, analytics), Google Maps (location), Razorpay (payments) and Google AI (used to help owners auto-generate product descriptions). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.
• Other users, only as needed for a transaction — e.g. a property/tiffin owner or delivery partner receives the details required to fulfil your booking or order.
• Authorities when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Dormly and its users.

4. Data retention & account deletion

We keep your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Services or meet legal/accounting requirements. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time — from inside the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account) or via our Account Deletion page. 5. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, access-controlled Firebase backends, server-side payment verification) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

6. Children

The Services are intended for users aged 18 and above and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

You may access, correct or delete your information, and withdraw permissions (such as location or notifications) from your device settings. To exercise any right, contact us at hello@dormlytech.com.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notified in the app.
